RESIDENTS MEETINGS HELD

6.30 P.M. - TUESDAY 29th NOVEMBER 2011 AT THE COMMUNITY CENTRE UPPER BRYNAMMAN

This first meeting was held primarily to see what kind of support the residents of Bryn Avenue and Brynbach Road were prepared to offer to contest the County Council's decision not to proceed with the Regeneration Scheme on these roads. This is only a brief outline of what took place at the meeting but shows quite clearly that further investigation is required.

I must thank the people concerned for support that can only be described as outstanding.

There were 36 residents in attendance, which considering the small area involved is exceptional.

Also thanks to our County Councillor Mrs. Helen Wyn who was there to give her support.

It seemed that there was full agreement from those present that Carmarthenshire County Council were manipulating figures and using ambiguously worded scheme criteria to bring things to a halt.
It appeared that the Council were more interested in supplying Property Appreciation loans than implementing the planned scheme. Great when house prices are at a low and loved by first time buyers and pensioners (I don't think).

All the concerns shown in the original information provided by myself to the residents were discussed and agreed upon that further and deeper investigation needed to be conducted.

Although Councillor Mrs.Helen Wyn had contacted the Council on our behalf, unfortunately no response had yet been received.

It appeared that two new residents of Bryn Avenue did not receive the necessary information to take part in the scheme. Also there seemed to be confusion on Coronation Road where not all had been asked if they wished to take part in the scheme.

With a quite lengthy discussion of various concerns it was finally decided that our County Councillor should make attempts to contact Carmarthenshire County Council for facts and answers to our concerns and report back with any findings.

A follow-up meeting has been provisionally arranged for Tuesday 10th January 2012 at 6.30 p.m. again at the Upper Brynamman Community Centre. You will be individually notified if this changes for any reason.

Thank you all for your attendance and superb support. Let us now keep up the momentum on this by attending the next meeting (with a few more if possible).

Any information collected in the meanwhile will be posted on this website for you all to see. I will shortly set up a page for this purpose.

Meeting ended at 7.25 p.m.

The sum of £13.50 was collected for room hire. The actual cost was £8.00, you can decide later what to do with the surplus of £5.50 (champagne maybe !!).
